To identify driving problems related to vehicle operation encountered by physically limited drivers.
Face to face interviews of over 500 drivers across four areas of the US.
The study reports difficulties using primary and secondary controls as well as difficulties in checking blind spots and mirrors.
Disabled drivers, adapted vehicles, vehicle adaptation devices.
Owing to the age of the report many of the recommendations are likely to have been addressed by the advance of vehicular technology – for example the report pre-dates widespread use of power steering, hence difficulties steering were widely reported.
